District Snow Team To Fully Deploy Wednesday, February 25 For Overnight Snowfall

(Washington, DC) Mayor Muriel Bowser will deploy the District Snow Team, starting at 11 pm Wednesday, February 25 with a full deployment of more than 200 snow trucks that will be on their routes by 1 am Thursday, February 26. Wednesday morning, the District Snow Team began pre-treating bridges and ramps with a sodium-chloride brine mixed with beet juice to help retard freezing on these surfaces.

(Washington, D.C.) Mayor Muriel Bowser deployed the District Snow Team, today February 18 ahead of today’s expected snow. Snow trucks were on their routes by 2 pm. The storm system should reach the region Wednesday afternoon, bringing accumulating snow of half of an inch.  The low temperature overnight is predicted to be around 10F and windy. Thursday morning’s temperature may reach a high of 17F.

(Washington, DC) “DPW is making every effort to collect and recycle holiday trees; however, we have had to suspend these collections several times this month so the tree collection crews can be available to tackle predicted snow and ice storms. As a result, trees are piling up in treeboxes, alleys, even medians and creating public safety hazards.

(Washington, DC) Mayor Muriel Bowser will deploy more than 200 snow trucks at 4:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21 for a winter storm that could bring up to one inch of snow, starting around 6:00 am and continuing possibly until 5:00 pm. The forecast calls for a mix of snow and rain with temperatures in the low 30sF and a high of 38F Wednesday afternoon. A slushy coating is forecasted for DC.
